Abstract: An anti-reflective and anti-viral protective shield, an anti-reflective and anti-viral visor for a face protection system, a method for manufacturing an anti-reflective and anti-viral protective shield and/or an anti-reflective and anti-viral visor for a face protection system, and a face protection system comprising an anti-reflective and anti-viral visor are provided. The anti-reflective and anti-viral protective shield and the anti-reflective and anti-viral visor for a face protection system include a layer stack including a first layer, a second layer, a third layer, and a fourth layer arranged in this order. The first layer and the third layer have a refractive index of at least 1.9, and the second layer and the fourth layer have a refractive index of less than 1.7. Further, the anti-reflective and anti-viral protective shield and the anti-reflective and anti-viral visor for a face protection system also includes an upper layer over the layer stack. The upper layer includes at least one material selected from the group consisting of TiO 2 , ZnO, CuO, Ag-TiO 2 , and combinations thereof.
