摘要: The invention concerns a twin-block railway sleeper in which the two polymer-concrete blocks (1), designed to hold electrically insulated rails, surround the ends of a steel section (2) designed as a tie bar and disposed between the blocks (1). The polymer concrete is composed essentially of about 85-95 % by wt. of a granular inorganic material with the largest possible particle size, at least 25 % by wt. of this material being gravel with a particle size of 8 mm, preferably 16 mm, and the rest being a duroplastic synthetic resin, preferably polyester resin, which acts as the binder for the inorganic material. A sleeper of the kind is preferably used with ballast but can also be used for ridigly mounted track and has high resistance to cross-slipping and excellent mechanical-strength characteristics. To prevent ice from cracking the sleeper, the dowels (4) used to anchor the rail fixation in place are open at the top and the bottom and physically interlocked into the sleeper blocks (1).
