摘要: A turbine type flow meter has a four-vaned plastic torpedo-shaped turbine mounted (40) by portions of the plastic turbine within a housing (22) between first and second bearings. The turbine supports a pair of magnets (54) of the Neodymium-Iron-Boron type which rotate with the turbine. An upstream portion of the housing incorporates a sensor cavity (26), which is sealed from a flow cavity containing the turbine. A connector and an attached printed circuit board (64) with a Hall effect sensor (66) is mounted within the sensor cavity closely spaced from the rotating magnets. The sensor housing is constructed from two parts (24, 28). Each part of the housing incorporates mating structures that are designed for joining by spin welding.

摘要: A metering device has a magnet with ten poles which is driven to rotate by a gear connected to a source of rotation which is proportional to fluid flow, the passage of time, or other phenomenon. A reed switch is mounted so that rotation of the poles of the magnet, into and out of a position adjacent to the reed switch causes the reed switch to open and close as the magnet rotates. The opening and closing of the reed switch causes a step change in voltage applied to an electronic device which increments a counter. A second reed switch spaced from the rotating magnet sufficiently so that it remains normally closed can act as a sensitive device for detecting the presence of extraneous magnetic fields which might interfere with the operation of the first reed switch.

摘要: A shock sensor (20) having a housing (22) which mounts directly to a printed circuit board. The housing (22) contains a switch (44) or sensor (76) embedded in the housing and connected by leads (52) to the circuit board. A pendulum sensing mass (30) is suspended by two flexible pendulum arms (34). The arms (34) come together where they are attached to the housing and constrain the mass to swing along an arc (38) which lies in a single plane. A magnet (32) either forms the sensing mass or is mounted to the sensing mass. The reed switch or Giant Magneto-restrictive Sensor (GMR) type sensor is encapsulated within the base (23) of the housing (22). When a shock causes motion of the sensing mass (30) and the magnet (32), the motion is detected by the sensor or switch. A pair of mechanical contacts (64) on either side of the sensing mass can be substituted for the reed switch.
