A stud and a tire fitted with the studs featuring improved ice braking performance and anti-stud-loss performance are provided. To that end, the stud (1) according to the present invention, which is to be fitted in a stud recess formed on the tread surface side of the tire, includes a columnar body section (2), a pin section (3) disposed on one end in the direction along the central axis of the body section, and a flange section (4) disposed on the other end in the direction along the central axis of the body section. The body section, the pin section, and the flange section are respectively so formed as to have a length direction and a width direction orthogonal to the central axis 1C.
