to selectively prevent the release mechanism (126) from moving to the engaged position, and an interface (122) allowing an operator to release the interlock (128) to allow the release mechanism (126) to move to the engaged position. The lawn mower further includes a switch (432) actuated by the release mechanism (126) and a control module (430) coupled to the switch (432) so that the switch provides a signal to the control module (430) when the release mechanism (126) is in the engaged position and the control module (430) turns on the electric motor (120) in response to the signal to start the engine (112).
