摘要： The present invention relates to a printing apparatus comprising: a feeding roller configured to feed a printing sheet stacked on a stacking unit; a conveyance roller configured to convey the printing sheet fed by the feeding roller; printing means configured to print on the printing sheet conveyed by the conveyance roller; conveyance control means configured to control conveyance of printing sheets to form an overlap state in which a trailing edge of a preceding sheet as a printing sheet precedingly fed from the stacking unit and a leading edge of a succeeding sheet as a printing sheet succeedingly fed from the stacking unit overlap each other; and determination means configured to determine whether to convey the succeeding sheet, while keeping the overlap state, to a printing start position at which a printing operation by the printing means is started based on information regarding a conveyed position of the leading edge of the succeeding sheet, the conveyed position being a position of the leading edge of the succeeding sheet in a state where the succeeding sheet is conveyed to the printing start position. The present invention further relates to a method of controlling such a printing apparatus.

摘要： To shorten the time to be taken to start executing a process to handle conveyance trouble of a print medium (S) after the occurrence of the conveyance trouble, a printing apparatus of the present invention, upon sensing of conveyance trouble by a sensing unit (20D) during a printing operation, stops the conveyance of the print medium (S) in the conveyance trouble and any print medium (S) located upstream of it, and moves a printing head (8) from a first position at which the printing head (8) performs printing on a print medium (S) to a second position to which the printing head (8) is retreated from the first position, in parallel with a discharge operation for conveying, to a discharge unit, any print medium (S) located downstream of the print medium in the conveyance trouble.
