    摘要: Method for selectively deflecting a conveyed sheet (10b) into one of an outlet path (O) and a side conveying path (R), comprising the steps of:
    - bringing a first deflector (50) into the main conveying path (M) ahead of the sheet (10b) in a first receiving position (P1) in which a first surface (51) provided on the first deflector (50) is arranged for receiving a leading edge (11b) of the sheet (10b) and guiding the leading edge (11b) towards a first discharge end (52) of the first deflector (50) in a direction deviating from the direction of conveyance along the main conveying path (M);
    - after receiving the leading edge (11b), moving the first deflector (50) towards a first discharge position (P2) in which the first discharge end (52) is positioned closer to an initial section (63) of the side conveying path (R) than in the first receiving position (P1);
    - discharging the leading edge (11b) onto the initial section (63) of the side conveying path (R), and
    - retracting the first deflector (50) from the first discharge position (P2) and the main conveying path (M),
    followed by the steps of:
    - bringing a second deflector (70) into the main conveying path (M) ahead of another sheet (10c) in a second receiving position (P3) in which a second surface (71) provided on the second deflector (70) is arranged for receiving a leading edge (11b) of the sheet (10b) and guiding the leading edge (11b) towards a second discharge end (74) of the second deflector (70), thereby preventing the other sheet (10c) from entering the side conveying path (R) and guiding said other sheet (10c) towards the outlet path (O).

    - a first and a second, liftable stack support (72, 92), each configured to support a stack (89, 95) of sheets, preferably provided on a pallet;
    - a sheet supplying and/or separating module (77) for stacking a sheet onto a stack (89, 95) of sheets one of the first or second, liftable stack supports (72, 92) and/or separating a sheet from a stack (89, 95) of sheets on one of the first and second liftable stack supports (72, 92),
    - lifting means for moving the first or second liftable stack support (72, 92) between a bottom position (BOT) and a top position (TOP), which are respectively positioned spaced apart from and adjacent the sheet supplying and/or separating module (77), such that a stack holding volume (88) is defined between the bottom position (BOT) and top position (TOP), and wherein the lifting means are further configured to position a top sheet of the stack (89, 95) and/or on the first or second, liftable stack support (72, 92) inside the stack holding volume (88) at an operative (OL) level of the sheet supplying and/or separating module (77), such that the sheet supplying and/or separating module (77) can stack a new sheet onto the top sheet and/or separate the top sheet from the respective stack (89, 95),
    characterized by a translation mechanism (110, 120) configured to translate at least one of the first and second, liftable stack supports (72, 92) while supporting a stack of sheets (89, 95) between a buffer position (BP, BP1, BP2) outside of and on one side of the stack holding volume (88) and an active position (AP) inside the stack holding volume (88).
