A liquid discharging method is provided with heat generating elements (2) for creating air bubbles for discharging liquid, discharge ports (18) arranged corresponding to the heat generating elements, first liquid flow paths (14) conductively connected with the discharge ports, second liquid flow paths (16) arranged corresponding to the heat generating elements, and a separation wall to separate the first and second liquid flow paths. This separation wall is provided with the free end, which is caused to be displaced to the first liquid flow side by pressure exerted by air bubbles created by the heat generating elements, thus leading the pressure toward the discharge port side for discharging liquid from the discharge ports. For this liquid discharging method, liquids are supplied to the second liquid flow paths and to the first liquid flow paths from different sides, respectively, in order to stabilize the flow of liquid for the enhancement of the discharging efficiency and power, while reducing the influence of cavitation with respect to the heat generating elements to make the life thereof longer.

This invention is directed to prevent an ink jet inactivation state which is induced when ink droplets adhering to the jet port surface of an ink jet head reach the jet port, and is characterized by including a water repellent region in the proximity of the jet port disposed on the jet port surface and a groove-like hydrophilic region inside a region spaced apart by a predetermined distance from the jet port and adjacent to the water repelling region. Since the groove-like hydrophilic region is disposed, the ink droplets adhering to the jet port surface can be taken into the hydrophilic region. Accordingly, excellent recording can be accomplished even under the condition of high speed recording and high frequency driving.
