摘要: There is disclosed a carding engine guard arrangement comprising a carding engine (10) having a longitudinal axis, and respective guards (11) arranged along each side of the carding engine (10), in which at least one of the guards comprises a support structure (25) arranged along one side of the carding engine (10), and a door arrangement (12) pivotally mounted on the support structure (25) to pivot about a substantially horizontal hinge axis (13, 17, 20) at or near to the upper edge of the door arrangement between a closed position guarding the side of the carding engine and a raised position allowing full access to the carding engine throughout its length, when the latter is inoperative. In a preferred arrangement, the door arrangement comprises upper and lower door panels (14 and 15) in which lower panel (15) is first hinged upwardly about its upper edge (16), and thereafter the overlapping door panels (14 and 15) are hinged together upwardly as a unit about the upper hinge axis (13, 17, 20) to the raised access position.

摘要: Apparatus for controlling the formation of a sliver and comprising a card (10), a feeding device (11, 12) upstream of the card for feeding a lap to the card, a condenser (13) downstream of the card (10) to form a sliver, a set of measuring rollers (14, 15) arranged to receive the sliver and to monitor the parameters of the sliver and being arranged to respond to deviations of the sliver from a desired value, a feedback control arranged to respond to deviation monitoring (APD) by the measuring rollers (14, 15) and to make compensating adjustment in the speed of operation of the feeding device (11, 12), drafting rollers (16) arranged downstream of the measuring rollers (14, 15) and drive means for driving the drafting rollers at a predetermined speed relative to the speed of the measuring rollers (14, 15) to provide a required drafting ratio, a feed-forward control arranged to respond to deviation monitoring by the measuring rollers (14, 15) and coupled with the drive means of the drafting rollers to provide corresponding variation in speed of the drafting rollers, a device to monitor the ratio between peripheral distance (D1) travelled by the measuring rollers (14, 15) relative to the peripheral distance (D2) travelled by the drafting rollers (16) and for comparing the ratio with a desired value and where necessary issuing a deviation signal (DS), and means for applying the deviation signal as a further control to the drive means to vary the relative speed of the drafting rollers (16).

摘要: There is disclosed a carding machine (100) which comprises feed means (2), a taker-in (3), a main carding cylinder (4), a doffer (6), and a stripper arrangement (7), in which a plenum chamber (11) is located at any region of the machine (100) where waste material is generated or collected during operation of the machine (e.g. at the feed end (2) of the machine; over the taker-in (3), stripping arrangement (7); within the envelope of the path of travel of flats (5); or within one of the return ends (36, 37) for the path of travel of flats (5)), an impeller (14) mounted for rotation at high speed within the plenum chamber (11), and having a formation which will cause turbulent flow within the chamber so as to suspend waste particles in the air and thereby promote discharge via the outlet duct (12) to any suitable waste collection unit, a striker plate (23) co-operating with the radially outer part of the impeller (14) during its rotation to minimise build-up of waste material on the impeller, and means (19a) to monitor the operation of the impeller (14) and give advance warning of a future requirement for cleaning/maintenance of the waste material discharge system when the impeller first slows down from its normal design speed.
