摘要： The present invention discloses a method for producing a pentitol. The present invention relates to a method for producing arabinitol from hexoses, e.g galactose and/or glucose, and/or fructose, or lactose hydrolysate, or invert sugar, or starch hydrolysates. The hexose is oxidatively decarboxylated to a C 5 -aldonic acid followed by catalytic hydrogenation yielding the desired arabinitol.
