Keyboard keys (150) extend through holes (120) in the same plastic housing. Strain-sensitive resistors (232, 234, 236, 238) are formed in a small location (240) onto a circuit substrate. The same circuit substrate (200) that carries the strain-sensitive resistors also carries conductive pads (250) for the key switches. The strain-sensitive resistor location (240) is bonded to the housing adjacent the pointing stick (130), but on an opposite surface of the housing from the pointing stick protrusion.

    摘要: A resistor network for terminating active electronic devices has low cross-talk noise between the adjoining resistors and the conductors that connect the resistors to other electronic packages. A substrate has a top and a bottom surface. Resistors are located on the top surface. Conductors are also located on the top surface and are electrically connected to each end of the resistors. Vias extend through the substrate and electrically connect to the conductors. Solder spheres are positioned on the bottom surface and are electrically connected to the vias. An end of each of the resistors is electrically connected in common through a common conductor. The commoned resistors are electrically connected to a common via through the common conductor. The resistor network minimizes cross-talk noise between the resistors and provides a high density interconnection.

    摘要: A fluid level detector according to the invention comprises a substrate formed of a heat-insulative material and one or more thermoresistive sensor elements located on the substrate that is adapted to be immersed in a fluid. A current source is connected to the sensor element for producing a current through the sensor element during a predetermined time period. The current heats the sensor element and causes a change in voltage across the sensor element at least during the time period. The amount of change in voltage during the time period is reflective of the fluid level, since the fluid serves as a heat sink for the sensor element. The voltage is measured across the sensor element and a voltage slope is determined. The determined voltage slope is indicative of fluid level.

A signal conditioning device (20) is mounted to the substrate (14) and is electrically connected to the resistors (16) for conditioning the electrical signal. The signal conditioning device (20) receives the electrical signal in an analog form and provides a conditioned signal as an output in a digital form. The device is mounted to a keyboard base (41). An alternative embodiment is shown using a cavity instead of apertures in the substrate.
