摘要： An image forming apparatus comprises (i) a main assembly including a spacing member, and (ii) a process cartridge detachably mountable to the main assembly. The process cartridge includes a spacing force receiving portion configured to receive a spacing force for moving a developing roller away from a photosensitive drum, from the spacing member of the main assembly, and a contact portion configured to contact the spacing member to retract the spacing member. The spacing member is movable between three different positions which are, (a) a first position for applying the spacing force to the spacing force receiving portion to move the developing roller in a direction away from the photosensitive drum, (b) a second position deviated from the first position in a direction away from the spacing force receiving portion to permit the developing roller to approach to the photosensitive drum, and (c) a third position which is a retracted position provided by contacting the contact portion to avoid interference with the process cartridge.

摘要： A process cartridge comprises: a first unit including an image bearing member; a second unit including a developer carrying member, the second unit being rotatably connected with the first unit so as to be movable between a contact position in which the developer carrying member contacts the image bearing member and a spaced position in which the developer carrying member is spaced from the image bearing member; a projected portion provided at an end portion of the process cartridge with respect to an axial direction of the developer carrying member, the projected portion projected in a direction crossing with the axial direction away from the developer carrying member, wherein the projected portion is provided with a recess or an opening; and a force receiving portion provided in the recess or the opening for receiving a force for moving the second unit from the contact position to the spaced position. The image bearing member and the projected portion are located on a downward side of the process cartridge, and, as seen along the axial direction of the developer carrying member, the force receiving portion faces upwardly and a side where the developer carrying member is provided.

The process cartridge includes a spacing force receiving portion configured to receive a spacing force for moving the developing roller in a direction away from a photosensitive drum, from the spacing member of the main assembly, and a contact portion configured to contact the spacing member to retract the spacing member. When the spacing member is in the normal position, the spacing member is capable of applying the spacing force to the spacing force receiving portion by movement of the movable member, and wherein the spacing member is retractable from the normal position to the retracted position by being contacted by the contact portion of the process cartridge.
