摘要: Gloss banding when printing on a scanning inkjet printer is reduced by printing a predetermined pattern of selected image areas of an image during a first pass of the carriage over a print medium to print a first swath, such that consecutively printed image areas are spaced apart from one another in the scanning direction a spacing width of a low level deposition area. Additional image areas of the image are printed on the low level deposition areas during one or more passes of the carriage over the print medium following the first pass, after which the printed image areas together form a band of the image. The spacing between neighboring low level deposition areas varies irregularly across the band for different pairs of consecutively printed image areas. This irregular printing pattern redistributes the glossiness levels of different image areas irregularly over the image, such that macroscopically the gloss level appears substantially homogenous.
