The present invention relates to a process for radical grafting of a graft onto a diene elastomer, comprising the following steps: a. dissolving, with stirring, at least one diene elastomer and at least one thiol derivative as graft in a solvent comprising a mixture of at least one polar solvent and at least one nonpolar solvent, b. heating the homogeneous reaction mixture obtained in the previous step to the grafting reaction temperature, and c. once the grafting reaction temperature has been reached, adding the radical initiator in order to bring about the grafting of the graft onto the units of the elastomer comprising unsaturations. This radical grafting process makes it possible to achieve high grafting yields which can reach 100%.

The present invention relates to a method for synthesising a modified polymer including epoxide groups along the polymer chain by causing the hydrosilylation reaction of the unsaturations with a hydrogenosilane having an epoxide function in the presence of a suitable catalyst. The method according to the invention is simple, reproducible and capable of being used on an industrial scale, and makes it possible to achieve high grafting yields of up to 100 %.

The invention also relates to the use of this copolymer in a tyre composition additionally comprising a diene elastomer and a reinforcing filler, in order to improve the interactions between the filler and the diene elastomer included in said tyre composition.
