    摘要: A process for producing a microporous membrane, comprising the steps: providing a polyolefin comprising an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, a low density polyethylene, a high density polyethylene, a polypropylene, or any combination thereof; providing a particulate filler; providing a processing plasticizer; mixing the polyolefin, filler and processing plasticizer together to form a mixture having a weight ratio of filler to polyolefin of 1:9 to 15:1 by weight; extruding the mixture to form a sheet; processing the sheet where processing is selected from the group consisting of: calendering, casting and blowing; extracting all or part of the processing plasticizer from the sheet to produce a matrix comprising the polyolefin and the particulate filler, the filler being distributed throughout the matrix, to produce a microporous matrix sheet; stretching the microporous matrix sheet in at least one stretching direction to produce a stretched microporous matrix sheet; calendering the stretched microporous matrix sheet to produce a microporous membrane.

    摘要: A separator for a lead acid battery is a porous membrane having a porous backweb with a first surface and a second surface. A plurality of longitudinally extending ribs is disposed upon said first surface and a plurality of transversely extending ribs being disposed upon said second surface. Said transversely extending ribs have a wavy rib pattern.
    A lead acid battery comprises a housing containing a positive electrode spaced apart from a negative electrode with said lead acid battery separator disposed between said positive electrode and said negative electrode and an electrolyte in ionic communication between said positive electrode and said negative electrode. Said first surface is adjacent to said positive electrode and said second surface is adjacent to said negative electrode.
