摘要： The snap-on steering column shroud assembly (10) includes an upper shroud (34) and a lower shroud (36). The upper shroud (34) has an upper steering shaft passage portion (40) that is positioned vertically, axially and angularly relative to the upper steering shaft (14). A front edge (42) is moved toward the steering column (12) to move upper shroud cantilever snap fasteners (72 and 74) into engagement with the steering column (12). Force is applied manually to force the upper shroud snap fasteners into a retaining position. A lower shroud (36) is aligned with the upper shroud (34) by alignment posts (88 and 90) and alignment post receivers (166 and 168) and then raised into contact with the steering column (12). Lower shroud cantilevered snap fasteners (136 and 138) are manually forced into a lower shroud retaining position on the steering column (12). Snap connectors (92, 96 and 178) and snap receivers (102 and 106) connect the upper shroud (34) to the lower shroud (36).

摘要： The invention provides a snap-in capsule (10) for releasibly connecting a steering column to a vehicle. The snap-in capsule (10) includes a metal insert (12) for reducing creep of the steering column (84) with respect to the vehicle. The metal insert (12) has top and bottom surfaces and a slot (18) extending along an axis for receiving a bolt. The snap-in capsule (10) also includes a plastic capsule body for providing a mechanical fuse between the metal insert (12) and the steering column. The plastic capsule body has a first snap-fit portion being deformable to receive the metal insert (12) and fix the plastic capsule body and the metal insert (12) with respect to one another.
