摘要: The invention relates to a process of preparation of a powder coating composition providing a desired gloss level of the resulted coatings comprising the following steps of: a) providing particles of a powder coating composition having a number average particle size in the range of 1 to 300 µm, b) irradiating the particles with high energy radiation under near-ambient temperature, and c) discharging the irradiated particles of the powder coating composition; the process according to the invention provides powder coating compositions producing a desired gloss level of the coatings by varying the time period and the intensity of the UV-irradiation of the powder coating particles in step b).

摘要: The invention is directed to a process for the production of a scratch-resistant vehicle coating comprising the following steps: I. applying a top coat layer of colour- and/or special effect-imparting base coat and a transparent clear coat or of a pigmented one-layer top coat onto a prior coating, II. optionally, applying a sealing layer of a transparent sealing coat onto the top coat layer applied in step I and III. curing the top coat layer applied in step I and the sealing layer optionally applied in step II, wherein the transparent clear coat or the pigmented one-layer top coat and/or the transparent sealing coat contains modified nanoparticles based on an element-oxygen network, the elements are selected from the group consisting of aluminium, silicon, tin, boron, germanium, gallium, lead and transition metals including the lanthanides and actinides and wherein the modified nanoparticles being produced by treating the (unmodified) nanoparticles with compounds of the general formula I Me(ORI)4 and/or the general formula II Me(OCOR1)4, wherein R1 means an alkyl, aryl and/or aralkyl residue and Me means zirconium and/or titanium.

摘要: The invention is directed to coating compositions curable by means of UV radiation, comprising A) at least one free-radically polymerizable oligomeric and/or polymeric binder containing olefinically unsaturated groups, B) optionally, at least one free-radically polymerizable monomeric reactive diluent containing one or more olefinically unsaturated groups, C) at least one photoinitiator for free-radical polymerization, D) at least one metal compound selected from the group consisting of metal salt compounds containing the metal in the cation and/or anion of the salt compound, organometallic compounds, metal coordination compounds and mixtures thereof, wherein the metal or the metals are selected from the group consisting of a metal from groups 13-14 of the periodic system of elements or a transition metal, which metal or transition metal is able to occur in at least 2 oxidation states other than zero and E) optionally, water, organic solvents, pigments, fillers and/or conventional coating additives, with the proviso that the coating compositions contain no physically drying binders and no beta-diketones.

摘要: A process for the preparation of powder coatings with a controlled surface appearance comprising the steps of applying a powder coating composition onto the substrate surface comprising 1 to 95 wt% of at least one hydrophobic agent, irradiating the applied powder coating composition with high energy radiation having a UV dose in a range of 100 to 5000 mJ/cm2 under near-ambient temperature, fusing, melting and flowing out the particles of the powder coating composition by increased temperature to a molten coating, and curing the molten coating; the process according to the invention makes it possible to provide coatings with a controlled surface appearance as well as to provide coatings having a high mechanical and outdoor stability without a change in formulation of the powder coating composition.
