Disclosed is a process to produce a purified carboxylic acid product. The process comprises removing impurities from a crude carboxylic acid slurry in a solid-liquid displacement zone to form a slurry product. The slurry product if further treated in a staged oxidation zone and a crystallization zone to from a crystallized product. The crystallized product is further cooled in a cooling zone and subsequently filtered and dried in a filtration and drying zone. The process produces purified carboxylic acid product having good color and low impurity levels without the use of purification steps like hydrogenation.

The present invention provides an article of manufacture having a coating or is otherwise surrounded in large measure by a second polymer which has non-blocking characteristics. In a preferred embodiment, the article possesses a core polymer which has a Tg of less than 25 °C which is coated with or otherwise surrounded by a second polymer which has a Tg of greater than 25 °C, but less than 230 °C. Further, preferred core polymers have a number average molecular weight of about 3000 to about 100,000. A further feature of the articles of the present invention is that when heated to temperatures of about 100 to 300 °C, they undergo an ester exchange reaction to provide a substantially homogeneous polymer product useful in hot melt adhesive applications.

The present invention relates to a process comprising polymerizing repeat units derived from an acid component comprising terephthalic acid and naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and at least one glycol in the presence of less than about 10 ppm sodium carbonate and between about 10 and about 60 ppm phosphorus. Polyesters formed via the process of the present invention display surprisingly good clarity and color.
