Abstract: A flat-panel display (10) comprising a hermetically sealed gas filled enclosure. The enclosure includes a top glass substrate (12) having a plurality of electrodes (20) and a thin dielectric film (22) covering the electrodes and a bottom glass substrate (14) spaced from the top glass substrate. The bottom glass substrate includes a plurality of alternating barrier ribs (24) and micro-grooves. An electrode (40) is deposited over each micro-groove and a phosphor (42) is deposited over a portion of each electrode coating.
