The invention relates to supporting elements and to the connection elements thereof of an at least two-part shell, beam, or framework supporting structure (1), which is made of a metal material and in which fatigue is primarily relevant to the dimensions, for any application and in any geometry. The invention is characterized in that the supporting elements (2.1 to 2.n) of the complete structure or individual structure portions are pretensioned partially or all around on one or more planes on the inside or outside by means of tensioning elements (3.1 to 3.m) at a bracing angle (β) and/or by means of operating loads to such a degree that the stress of each individual supporting element under all expected operating loads, even under extreme loads, always occurs in the pulsating stress range according to the threshold tension ratio 1
