摘要: A lighting apparatus includes a first electrical contact (5212) that receives power and a second electrical contact (5304) that provides access to the received external power. An electrical contact support component (5210) is used to configure the orientation of the first electrical contact (5212) with respect to the second electrical contact (5304) and connect the first electrical contact and the second electrical contact. A portable lighting appliance receiving region (5310) receives and provides power to a received portable lighting appliance (5206). An interface (5226) receives an input indicative of a first operation of the received portable lighting device (5206) when the power is available and a second operation of a received portable lighting device (5206) when the power is unavailable.

摘要: The portable lighting device of the present invention includes a casing (12) defining a battery compartment (26). The battery compartment may be lined with a shock absorbing material (48) and may be configured to receive a plurality of batteries (102) arranged in at least two rows that are offset with respect to one another. The casing may define two support surfaces (18, 25) with one inclined with respect to the other. A battery cartridge (100) may be used in the lighting device that has a pivoting handle (145) to aid in removal of the cartridge from the battery compartment. A reflector isolator (96) may also be employed to reduce mechanical shock transferred to the lamp (95). A lantern so constructed can withstand drops of up to 15 feet or more.
