A motor-incorporated spindle head unit is provided with a rotatable spindle (12) on which a rotor assembly (32) of the drive motor (30) is fixedly mounted. A stator assembly (34) of the drive motor is arranged around the rotor assembly (32) and is fixed to a housing (20) of the spindle head unit. A heat insulating system (50) for preventing heat transfer from the stator assembly (34) of the drive motor (30) to the spindle (12) as well as the bearings (16) supporting the spindle (12) is arranged between the drive motor (30) and the front part (14) of the spindle. The heat insulating system (50) uses the flow of air for forming a heat insulator during the operation of the spindle head unit. A cooling system (36-44) for cooling the stator assembly (34) of the drive motor (30) is also incorporated in the housing (20) of the spindle head unit.
