The invention relates to data carriers with an optically variable structure. Data carrier comprises a coating made in the form of a printed screen, and a three-dimensional screen. The three-dimensional screen is at least partially arranged on the coating. The width of lines and distance between lines of the printed and three-dimensional screens and the mutual orientation of the screens are selected to create a moiré image; when the carrier is viewed at a direct angle to the surface the coating is fully discernible, while the moiré image is concealed. When the carrier is viewed at an acute angle the part of the coating that is disposed on the three-dimensional screen surfaces arranged parallel to the viewing direction or occluded from the viewer by elements of the three-dimensional screen is unrecognizable. In this case, the part of the coating that is disposed on the three-dimensional screen surfaces facing the viewer and not occluded from the viewer by elements of the three-dimensional screen is recognizable, whereby the moiré image becomes visible. Border between two colors of the printed screen is arranged mostly on inclined areas of the three-dimensional screen. When the inclination angle of the carrier is changed, the borders of color stripes on the carrier appear to move.

A product, for instance, a valuable document, comprises a carrier and a multilayer security element containing a latent image. The security element is indiscernible when the document is viewed at the right angle to the surface thereof, but becomes visible when the angle of viewing changes. The latent image is comprised of two identical graphical elements of different color, which are formed by means of mutual offset of portions of a three-dimensional raster and of a raster of a multicolor cover by a distance multiple of half the period of the raster, and which are positioned in a single plane relative to each other. The elements are disposed at a distance which allows for viewing a stereoscopic image thereof by using anaglyph glasses and/or color filters. The technical result is an increased level of protection of a valuable document.

The claimed group of inventions discloses a layered product on a paper or polymer substrate with an optically variable structure, and also a method for manufacturing same. The layered product comprises a coating in the form of a printed screen, and a three-dimensional screen. The three-dimensional screen is made in the form of elements with a symmetrical and/or asymmetrical profile to form a relief on both sides of the substrate, and is so arranged in respect to the printed screen that the three-dimensional screen is at least partially located above the printed screen. The width of lines, the distance between lines of the printed and three-dimensional screens and the mutual orientation of the screens are selected such that they form a moire image which is hidden, when the data carrier is viewed at a right angle, and becomes visible when the data carrier is viewed at an acute angle. The present invention provides an increase in the security of products, and also an increase in the technological effectiveness and a reduction in the cost of the security element owing to the reduction of passes in a printing machine.

Valuable document comprises a coating in the form of a printed raster that is made up of at least one colour which is different from the colour of the document base. The document also comprises a three-dimensional raster arranged relative to the coating so that the three-dimensional raster is at least partially disposed on the coating, is oriented substantially parallel to lines of the printed raster and together with the coating forms a latent image which is not discernible when the document is viewed at right angle. At least a portion of lines of the three-dimensional raster has an asymmetric cross-section profile with an aspect ratio of not less than 1:1.25, as a result of which the latent image becomes visible in the form of coloured elements or a single-colour region when the viewing angle changes. Changing the viewing direction by 180 degrees without any change in the viewing angle results in a change in the optical density or colour gamut of at least a part of the latent image. The invention enhances the counterfeit protection of a valuable document with an optically variable image and makes it possible for an untrained user to carry out a visual authenticity check.
