The stripping unit substantially comprises a housing (2) with a threaded spindle (3) which projects out of, and is fixedly connected to, the housing (2), it being possible for a clamping mandrel (4), into which the threaded spindle (3) is screwed upon rotation with driving of the housing (2), to be screwed onto that end of the threaded spindle (3) which is remote from the housing (2), wherein an arm-shaped sliding block (5) is arranged in parallel with the threaded spindle (3) and is likewise held at one end in the housing (2) and bears, at the opposite free end thereof, a stripping blade (21) which projects into the region of that end of the clamping mandrel (4) which holds the threaded spindle (3). The sliding block (5) can be pivoted and locked by means of a lever mechanism, such that the stripping blade (21) can be moved into a predefinable position with respect to the clamping mandrel (4) and be releasably locked, in order to apply a defined or adjustable pressing force of the stripping blade (21) to a pipe (25) to be stripped.
