Abstract:
Scanning based wavelength measurement systems which are suitable for both localised and distributed WDM, High Density WDM, and coherent systems are based around the use of a fixed cavity Fabry-Perot Etalon which when the output of a tuneable laser is passed through it produces a number of reference equispaced transmission maxima. These maxima are used in a Scanning Heterodyne or Scanning Filter based Spectrometer for detection of the wavelength position of the transmitter.
Abstract:
For use in a coherent optic switch a coherent optical transceiver has a single coherent receiver for both data recovery and to lock the transmitter to an optical reference input to the receiver. The switch may include polarisation control of the optical input to the receiver and wave division multiplex control of the transmitter frequency. The transmitter and receiver may be constructed as opto-electronic integrated circuits.
Abstract:
An optical network operating with burst mode data traffic signal comprises a recirculating optical loop memory which includes to take a sample of a burst mode data traffic signal and to store the sample within the recirculating optical loop memory. The network may further comprise a scanning based wavelenght measurement system wherein the wavelength of the sample may be determined.
