摘要： An apparatus (10) for lifting and supporting a vehicle (12) relative to the ground includes a base assembly (14) and a relatively shiftable carriage assembly (16). The base assembly (14) includes a base resting on the ground and an upstanding post (18), and a cradle assembly is supported on the post for up and down movement. A piston (50) and cylinder (54) assembly is connected between the base assembly and the cradle assembly for moving the cradle up and down, and a pawl and ratchet assembly (78) permits unrestricted upward movement of the cradle assembly while preventing unrestricted downward movement. A locking assembly (48, 90) is provided for locking the cradle assembly in a raised position relative to the base assembly.
