摘要： A plugging apparatus (400) for a gravel packer comprises an operating mandrel (412) slidably received in an outer mandrel (461). A collet (558) is positioned on the outer mandrel, and actuation of the operating mandrel allows engagement of the collet with a threaded portion in the packer for locking the collet into such engagement. In particular, the mandrel (412) comprises a portion defining upper (531) and lower (532) spaced grooves; and a collet support (544) disposed between said portion and said collet means (558); wherein, said portion is movable such that said upper groove (531) may be positioned adjacent to said collet support (544) allowing said collet support to be biased into said upper groove so that said collet means may flex inwardly for engaging said inner portion of said packer; a section of said portion between said grooves (531,532) may be positioned adjacent to said collet support (544) causing said collet support to lockingly engage said collet means (558) with said inner portion of said packer, and said lower groove (532) may be positioned adjacent to said collet support (544) allowing said collet support (544) to be biased into said lower groove (532) such that said collet means (558) may again flex inwardly for disengaging from said inner portion of said packer.

摘要： A downhole inflatable packer comprises an adapter having an inflation port (162) therein, a mandrel (72) slidable within the adapter, the mandrel having an inflation port (160) therein which is alignable with port (162) of the adapter when packer inflation is required, the apparatus also including means (110,128) for retaining the mandrel in the inflating position which retaining means is pressure actuable to release the mandrel for it to move to a sealed position in which the inflation ports are not aligned. The retaining means can subsequently be re-engaged to hold the mandrel in the inflating position if required.
