摘要: A mounting for a disk file (14) comprises a carrier (13) defining a space into which the disk file can be removably inserted for operational use. The carrier (13) has a base (16) and two opposed sides (17 and 18), and first and second wedge means (19 and 20) which are movable to act between the main body of the disk file (14) and the side (18) of the carrier (13), to secure the disk file against movement relative to the carrier. The wedge means include wedges (21) which are movable in a vertical direction by a control linkage operated automatically when the disk file (14) is inserted into the carrier structure.

摘要: A method and apparatus for writing clock data to a storage medium, such as a disk, is disclosed. The storage medium has tracks on which data are stored. Clock data is written to a present track on the storage medium. The written clock data is read from said present track. Clock data for a subsequent track on the storage medium is generated from the clock data read from said present track. The phase of the generated clock data for the subsequent track is compared with a reference timing signal and the phase of the generated clock data for the subsequent track is adjusted in accordance with said comparison. Said phase adjusted clock data for the subsequent track is written to said subsequent track. Phase errors can be significantly reduced and, for practical purposes, substantially eliminated. It is not necessary to provide a dedicated clock read/write head.
