A metal ring polishing method and device capable of polishing the lateral end edge of a metal ring without performing barrel polishing or polishing by a grindstone. Subsequent to loading process for loading a metal ring (W) by a loading means (6), a first blush polishing process is performed for polishing one end edge of the metal ring (W) by a polishing brush (60). Then, a reversing process is performed for reversing the metal ring (W), having its one end edge polished by the first brush polishing process, by a reversing means (10). Subsequently, a second blush polishing process is performed for polishing the other end edge of the metal ring (W), reversed by the reversing process, by a polishing brush (60). And a sweep-out process is performed for sweeping out the metal ring, having the other end edge polished by the second blush polishing process, by a sweep-out means (7).

A cutting device for thin metallic plate, capable of shortening the time required for shaping etc. of a cut edge to enhance production efficiency and extending life of an edge tool. The cutting device cuts a thin plate (W) made of metal to a predetermined width and has a press cut edge tool (7) made of a metal with higher hardness than the thin plate (W) and having an edge angle of 50-90º. The cutting device further has a contact tool (5) having a groove (8) that is opposed to the press cut edge tool (7) and coming in contact with the back face of the thin plate (W). The groove (8) is formed such that the distance (a) between upper edges (9a, 9b) is 15-30 times as large as the thickness of the thin plate (W), and that the depth (c) of a deepest portion (11) of the groove (8) is 1-3 times as deep as the thickness (b). Curved surfaces (10) are provided on both inner walls (9) of the groove (8), and their curvature radius is made 15-50 times as large as the thickness (b).
