The diaphragm is of such a thickness that reflections from its diaphragm/body interface (I B ) and reflections from its liquid/diaphragm interface (I L ) tend to cancel one another. The diaphragm material and the liquid (L) in the chamber are selected such that their acoustic impedances ensure cancellation of the reflected waves.
