An article of protective clothing (110, 200, 300, 400, 500). The article of protective clothing (110, 200, 300, 400, 500) comprises an inner rubber layer (305) and an outer rubber layer (310) laminated over the inner rubber layer (305) excepting at a local delamination area between the inner rubber layer and the outer rubber layer that defines a delamination pocket (120, 205, 315, 410, 515).

Apparatus and associated methods relate to a metal splatter protective boot having an upper that includes a one-piece forefoot shield. The one-piece forefoot shield may have an exterior surface made of a flame-resistant woven fabric coated with a rubber and an interior layer made of a non-woven material. The one-piece forefoot shield may have a vamp region and an exterior tongue. The vamp region may cover the entire upper forefoot from the tarsometatarsal joint forward. The exterior tongue may cover the forward facing instep region of the boot's upper. A flexible flame-resistant outsole may attach to the upper. The rubber coated flame-resistant woven fabric may be both flexible and metal-splatter-resistant.

Apparatus and associated system relate to an article of footwear with armor for protecting a wearer's foot from injury. A shoe or boot (120) has a rigid or semi-rigid toe-cap (130) enclosing the toes of the wearer. An arch of armor (135) encircles the wearer's foot above his/her toe-joints. This arch (135) attaches to the outsole (145) of the shoe or boot (120) on both sides of the wearer's foot at approximately his/her toe-joints and extends up and over the foot, approximately covering the toe-joints of the wearer. In various embodiments, a longitudinal beam (140) may slidably ride on top of both the armored arch (135) and the toe-cap (130), providing metatarsal coverage. In other embodiments, the beam (140) may be attached to the armored arch (135), but be slidable above or on top of the toe-cap (130). This slidable coupling of armor enhances the flexibility of the footwear.

Apparatus and associated methods may relate to a boot having independently adjustable first and second straps with the first strap located at an ankle portion of the boot and the second strap located at an instep portion of the boot. In an illustrative example, the first and second straps may each be routed through one or more eyelets in a zig-zag configuration. In some embodiments, each strap may be routed through an adjustment buckle permitting a wearer to secure the boot by simply tugging each strap's free end. In some embodiments, the dual strap-fasteners may be removably installed to a boot. In an exemplary embodiment, the removable fastener may have both an ankle strap circumscribing the boot near a wearer's lower ankle and a stirrup strap looping under the outsole. In various examples, the boot may be comfortably secured to a wearer's foot in an easy and quick manner.
