On construit une structure modulaire en treillis (40, 50) en utilisant des composants uniformes pour créer la géométrie désirée dans ladite structure. Des joints rigides en Y (10) pourvus de trois branches (12, 14, 16) sont raccordés pour former la structure. Le raccordement des première et deuxième branches (12, 14) de joints adjacents (10) définit des cadres horizontaux à chaque niveau de la structure et le raccordement des branches alignées parmi les troisièmes branches (16) de joints adjacents (10) définit les jambes verticales de la structure (50).

A modular framed structure is constructed by using uniform, rigid Y joints (10) which have branches (12a,12b,12c) forming angles of 120°, 120° and 108° in space. The Y joints (10) are either directly welded to other Y joints or indirectly connected to other Y joints through couplings or bolts. These framed structures are interconnected to form structural supports over which roofing material will be spanned with or without prestress. Where three hexagonal panels meet, stiffening effect of the structural frame will further strengthen the structural resistance.

A modular space framed structure (40, 50) is constructed using uniform components to provide the desired geometry of the modular structure. Rigid Y-shaped joints (10) having three branches (12, 14, 16) are interconnected to form the structure. The interconnection of first and second branches (12, 14) of adjacent devices (10) defines horizontal frames at each level in the structure and the interconnection of aligned ones of the third branches (16) of adjacent devices (10) defines the vertical legs of structure (50).
