The method is applied to a first terminal, and the method includes: obtaining a first operation for a phone number of a second terminal by using a first display interface, where the first display interface is a communication interface between the first terminal and the second terminal; sending a first request to the second terminal, where the first request is used to request to obtain a location of the second terminal; and when the second terminal authorizes the first terminal to access the location of the second terminal, obtaining the location of the second terminal, to display the location of the second terminal. This avoids disclosure of personal information of a user to help protect personal information privacy of the user, and omits a step of establishing a friend relationship, so that operation steps are simple, to help improve user viscosity. A location of a peer party is accessed only when the peer party performs authorization, to ensure controllability of location privacy of the user.
