    摘要: This invention adds a fuel pressure sensitive piston (22) at a location adjacent to the automatic shut off mechanism (14) of a fuel dispensing nozzle, extending a lever (36) responsive to the reciprocal movements of the piston (22) for either biasing against the diaphragm (15) of the shut off mechanism (14), to raise it and disengage its associated latch mechanism (17) for release of the dispenser handle (8) and closure of the nozzle poppet valve (6), as when there is no fuel being delivered from the pump, or in the alternative, shifting said lever (36) to disengage the diaphragm (15), as when fuel pressure from the pump at the inlet (3) of the nozzle (1) forces the piston (22) in an opposite direction, thereby releasing its contact with said diaphragm (15), and allowing the automatic shut off mechanism (15) to routinely function.

The coupling (7) includes a pair of fittings (9, 11), for connecting to the fuel line, a sleeve (12) for housing the fittings (9, 11), and each fitting (9, 11) incorporating a check valve (18, 54) to provide for closure of the fluid flow passage (21, 48) and closure of the vapor flow passage (25, 62, 59) when decoupling occurs, a fluid chamber providing for flow of fluid and a vapor return passage, internal of the fluid flow passage, allowing vapor recovery in a concentric line. The device is pressure compensated to eliminate the effects of line shock.

    摘要: The fuel dispensing nozzle (10) has a body (12) in which a fuel passage is formed. A spout assembly (18) is attachable to the body in fluid communication therewith for fuel to flow from the body through the spout and into a tank (T). A valve (20) is interposed in the passage and controls fuel flow through the body. A flexible bellows (80) fits over the spout with the outer end (72) thereof sealingly engaging an inlet (I) of the tank to prevent fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. A control apparatus is responsive to movement of the bellows when the spout is inserted into the tank to open the valve, and to removal of the spout from the tank to close the valve. An apparatus (176) is responsive to the vapor pressure within the tank to effect closing of the valve when an overpressure condition occurs thereby to prevent vapor from escaping into the atmosphere. The apparatus includes first and second pivotally connected levers (132, 136) one of which moves in response to movement of the bellows and the other of which moves in response to the vapor pressure reaching a predetermined level indicative of the tank being substantially full to close the valve and prevent vapors from escaping.

    摘要: The fuel dispensing nozzle (10) has a body (12) including a fuel passage for fuel to flow from a source thereof through the body (12). A spout (18) is attached to the body (12) in fluid communication therewith for fuel to flow into the spout (18) from the passage. The distal end of the spout (18) forms a mouth (19) insertable into the tank. A vapor return path is provided for capturing fuel vapors and returning them to the source, so to substantially reduce or eliminate emissions. A vacuum is produced in a variable venturi portion (42) of the nozzle (10) and is applied to the return path to extract any fuel collecting therein. This vacuum is in addition to another vacuum produced at the venturi (42) and used to assist in automatically shutting-off fuel flow when the tank is full. This device is a power generating source that is not limited to only fuel extraction and nozzle shut off. It can also be used for other apparent uses, having the multiple usage applied in conjunction with the vapor recovery systems in the category of the balanced pressure system and the vacuum assist system.
