Disclosed is a method for preventing a breakout of molten steel in a solidifying shell in a mold in continuous casting. The method includes periodic collection of pressure data of a cylinder of a mold oscillator, division of the pressure data into first and second period data, conversion of respective period data to frequency-domain data, analysis of power spectra of the converted data, calculation of a time delay coefficient associated with a delay in signal via a cross correlation analysis between the first and second period data, and control of the casting speed according to results of power spectra analysis and cross correlation analysis.
