摘要： The display device (10) comprises a first pixel panel (100) which is arranged to independently adjust the brightness of light transmitted through different regions of the first panel (100) from a backlight (300) arranged below the first panel (100). A second pixel panel (200) is arranged above the first panel (100) to provide a colour display. The two pixel panels (100, 200) work together to improve the display contrast and quality. A first pixel unit (140) of the first panel (100) may correspond to N second pixel units (240) of the second panel (200) where N > 0 but less than or equal to 20. Each first pixel unit (140) comprises (140) two subpixels (142, 144) which are switched in parallel so as to provide redundancy in each first pixel unit (140), thus improving the yield, should a manufacturing defect occur in one of the two subpixels (142, 144).
