摘要： Apparatus for measuring the profile of a rail head (24) and movable along the rail by a trolley (22) comprises a base (12) having guides (34) extending transversely of the rail (20) and on which is mounted a carriage (16) carrying a sensing device (18) comprising a wheel (80) and sensing means for determining the vertical position of the wheel. A drive motor (111) and crank mechanism (131,151) reciprocates the carriage so that, as the apparatus travels along the rail, the wheel (80) travels in a sinusoidal path across and along the rail head.
