摘要:
Embodiments of the present technology include a formaldehyde-free binder composition. The composition may include melamine. The composition may also include a reducing sugar. In addition, the binder composition may include a non-carbohydrate aldehyde or ketone. Embodiments may also include a method of making a formaldehyde-free binder composition. The method may include dissolving melamine in an aqueous solution of a reducing sugar. The concentration of the reducing sugar may be 30 wt.% to 70 wt.% of the aqueous solution, which may be at a temperature of 50°C to 100°C. The method may also include adding a non-carbohydrate aldehyde or ketone to the dissolved melamine in the aqueous solution to form a binder solution. The temperature of the aqueous solution of the dissolved melamine may be 50°C to 100°C during the addition of the non-carbohydrate aldehyde or ketone. The method may further include reducing the temperature of the binder solution.
摘要:
Binder compositions are described that include at least one formaldehyde-containing compound, a cyclic urea-dialdehyde compound, and a polyamine compound. The polyamine compound may be selected from melamine and dicyandiamide. The weight ratio of the at least one formaldehyde-containing compound to the combined weight of the cyclic urea-dialdehyde compound and the polyamine compound may be greater than or about 1:1. As described are binder-containing fiberglass products that include glass fibers and a binder. The binder may include a formaldehyde polymer characterized by crosslinking with a cyclic urea-dialdehyde and a polyamine. The binder-containing fiberglass products have reduced formaldehyde emissions.

The invention concerns a novel binder system and its use for consolidating textile fabrics, as well as to products containing such consolidated textile fabrics. The materials according to the invention are suitable for the manufacture of reinforcing inserts, optionally in combination with at least one further textile fabric, for coated sarking membranes, roofing and waterproofing sheets, as textile backings or textile reinforcement in flooring, in particular in fitted carpets and PVC flooring, or in facers in wall coatings both in the interior and exterior of buildings, as well as in furniture.

Fiber-containing composites are described that include woven or nonwoven fibers, and a binder that holds the fibers together. The binder may include the reaction product of a starch and a polycarboxylic acid. The starch has a weight average molecular weight that ranges from 1 x 10 6 Daltons to 10 x 10 6 Daltons. The fiber-containing composite has an unaged tensile strength of greater than 4.0 and an aged tensile strength greater than 3.0. Also described are methods of making the fiber-containing composites. The methods may include applying a binder composition to fibers to form coated fibers, measuring a moisture content of the coated fibers, and curing the coated fibers in a curing oven to form the fiber-containing composite. The binder composition may include a starch having a weight average molecular weight that ranges from 1 x 10 6 Daltons to 10 x 10 6 Daltons, and a polycarboxylic acid.
