摘要： A disposable article (20), such as a diaper, for absorbing and containing urine and other body exudates has an absorbent insert pad (21) that may be flushed in a toilet. The article preferably includes a backing sheet (24) and a bodyside liner (25) that are substantially coterminous. In one embodiment of the invention, a secondary absorbent body (26), which is disposed between the backing sheet (24) and the bodyside liner (25), has a pocket (47) formed therein. The absorbent insert pad (21) is positioned against the bodyside liner (25) and located generally within the pocket (47). A cover (23) is releasably attached to the bodyside liner (25) to maintain the insert pad (21) within the pocket (47).

Management and containment of body wastes are improved by several structural elements that can be utilized individually or collectively. Some of these elements are a waste-containment pocket (56) formed between the topsheet (26) and backsheet (30), an opening (38) in the topsheet (26) for receiving body wastes therethrough, a pair of containment flaps (50) and a pair of side flaps (60), and an expandable backsheet (30) to retain body wastes therein.
