    摘要: Disclosed is a coating apparatus which comprises the first slot (5) arranged between the front (1) and center (2) edges and the second slot (7) arranged between the center (2) and back (3) edges, wherein a coating solution is extruded continuously from each of the slots so as to be coated on the surface of a flexible support (B) running continuously along the edge surfaces of the front, center and back edges in order. The front edge surface has a straight-line portion (L) provided to at least the terminal end portion of the front edge so that said straight-line portion may be along the direction of running said support and not longer than one mm in length, and at least one portion of said center and back edge surfaces is extruded from the extension line of said straight-line on the support side. The coating apparatus is suitable for preparing a magnetic recording medium.

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium improved in the magnetic recording characteristics, running properties and durability is disclosed. The magnetic recording medium comprises a non-­magnetic support having on a side of the support an upper magnetic layer positioned farther from the support and a lower magnetic layer positioned closer to the support. The upper magnetic layer comprises a binder, a magnetic powder having an original BET specific surface area of not less than than 30 m²/g and at least one abrasive selected from alumina, silicon carbide, Cr₂O₃, silica, α-Fe₂O₃, TiO₂ and zilconia in a portion of 3 to 20 parts per 100 parts by weight of the magnetic powder, and the lower magnetic layer comprises a binder and a magnetic powder having an original BET specific surface area of less than 30 m²/g, and kinds of the binders each contained in the upper magnetic layer and the lower magnetic layer are the same.
