摘要: A fiber of a sea-island phase separation structure in which the sea phase is made of a highly orientable and highly crystalline polyvinyl alcohol polymer, the island phase is made of a water-insoluble cellulosic polymer excellent in alkaline liquid absorbing capacity, heat resistance and difficulty of melting, the size of the island is 0.03 to 10 νm and the strength is 3 g/d or above and which can easily be separated into fibrils 0.05 to 8 νm in diameter by wetting the fiber and applying a mechanical stress to the resulting fiber. The above fibril is a hydrophilic and high-strength one which is excellent in the property of capturing fine particles, reinforcing effects, alkaline liquid absorption, and the resistances to heating and melting, does not cause the elution of fiber components in fibrillation, and is freed from the problematic bubbling in beating or the problem of environmental pollution due to a heating solution. The fibril is extremely useful as the separator paper for alkaline batteries, the reinforcing fiber for cement slates, the reinforcing fiber for friction materials, or the like.

摘要: An ocular lens material made of a copolymer of monomers respectively represented by formulae (I), (II), and (III), which has a well-balanced combination of mechanical strength, flexibility, oxygen permeability, shape stability, transparency, and hydrophilicity. [In the formulae, R?1 and R2¿ each represents H or CH¿3?; R?3 to R8¿ each represents a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by fluorine (F); A?1 and A2¿ each represents -O-, -S-, or -NR9- (wherein R9 represents H or a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by F); X?1 and X2¿ each represents a single bond or a divalent organic group; m is 0 to 300; R10 represents H or CH¿3; A?3 represents -O-, -S-, or -NR11- (wherein R11 represents H or a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by F); Y represents a monocyclic monovalent hydrocarbon group; R?12¿ represents H or CH¿3; A?4 represents -O-, -S-, or -NR13- (wherein R13 represents H or a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by F); X?3¿ represents a single bond or a divalent organic group; Z1 to Z5 each represents either a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by F or -OR?14¿ [wherein R14 represents either a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by F or a group represented by -O-SiR?15R16R17¿ {wherein R?15 to R17¿ each represents either a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by F or -O-R?18¿ (wherein R18 represents a C¿1-10? monovalent hydrocarbon group optionally substituted by F)}]; and n is 0 to 300.]
