摘要: A lighting system includes at least two light-emitting diodes each emitting, in operation, visible light in a preselected wavelength range. A converter converts part of the visible light emitted by one of the diodes into visible light in a further wavelength range so as to optimize the color rendition of the lighting system. The diodes include a blue light-emitting diode and a red light-emitting diode. Further, the converter includes a luminescent material for converting a portion of the light emitted by the blue light-emitting diode into green light.

摘要: The invention relates to a light-emitting device comprising a UV diode with a primary emission of 300 nm ≤ μ ≤ 370 nm,and a phosphor layer consisting of a combination of a blue-light emitting phosphor with an emission band of 430 nm ≤ μ ≤ 490 nm, a green-light emitting phosphor with an emission band of 520 nm ≤ μ ≤ 570 nm and a red-light emitting phosphor with an emission band of 590 nm ≤ μ ≤ 630 nm, said device emitting high-quality white light. The colour rendering index CRI is 90 at a colour temperature of 4 000 K. As colour rendering depends only on the composition of the three phosphors and not on the relation of converted to non-converted light it is easyto control and regulate.

摘要: The present invention relates to the use of photonic band gap materials with phosphors incorporated. Photonic band gap materials play an important role for LEDs as light sources in applications where either a high radiance is desirable or LEDs are used in optical systems. The optical properties of current LEDs are such that the radiance is rather low and cannot be increased by standard means. It is an object of the invention to improve the radiance of light emitting devices by making use of photonic band gap materials with phosphors incorporated. According to the invention there is provided as structured material comprising a pho tonic structure that adjusts a range of photon frequencies, also referred to as photon density of states, in specific directions only, further comprising phosphor material having at least one emission mode for which the photon frequency is in the range adjusted byy the photonic structure wherein the structured material has a symmetry lower than cubic such that the photonic structure adjusts the generation of photons emitted via said it least one emission mode of the phosphor material in less than three directions in this way increasing the radiance.
