摘要: The invention provides an apparatus for determining a pulse wave velocity in a vessel of a subject. The apparatus includes a processor adapted to: obtain an initial pulse wave velocity measurement of a vessel; and obtain an image of the vessel. The image comprises a measurement location, corresponding to the location within the vessel at which the initial pulse wave velocity measurement is obtained, and a view of the vessel downstream of the measurement location.
The processor is further adapted to identify a geometric structure of the vessel and to derive physical parameters of the vessel based on the image of the vessel, which are used to generate a numerical model of the vessel characterizing the influence of the structure of the vessel and the physical parameters of the vessel on the initial pulse wave velocity measurement. The processor then adjusts the initial pulse wave velocity measurement based on the numerical model, thereby generating a pulse wave velocity output corrected upon reflection originating from downstream to the measurement location.
