    摘要: A first housing 3 for rotatably supporting a steering shaft having an end portion coupled to a steering wheel, or a second housing 5 engaged with the first housing 3 via two impact energy absorbing rings 6 and 7 separated in the axial direction so as to be relatively movable in the axial direction, has first and second impact energy absorbing protrusions 8 and 9 projected from positions between the impact energy absorbing rings 6 and 7 separately in the axial direction so as to contact with the circumferential surface of the other of the first housing 3 and the second housing 5. The impact energy absorbing protrusions 8 and 9 therefore can reduce the load applied to the impact energy absorbing rings 6 and 7 in usual steering and the impact energy absorbing rings 6 and 7 can reduce the load due to frictional resistance in impact energy absorption.

    摘要: A steering assembly (1) includes a steering column (4) including a column housing (13) for retaining a column tube (14), and a reinforcing member (19) for reinforcing an end of the column tube (14). The column housing (13) includes a positioning portion (12b, 16a), and a fitting hole (12) having an aperture (12a) at the positioning portion (12b, 16a). The column tube (14) includes an end fitted in the fitting hole (12). The reinforcing member (19) includes a sleeve (20) having a first and a second end (20a, 20b), and a flange (21) extended radially outwardly from the first end (20a) of the sleeve (20). The sleeve (20) is fixed as fitted on an outer periphery of an end (18b) of the column tube (14) and is inserted in the fitting hole (12) at the second end (20b) thereof. The flange (21) is abutted on the positioning portion (12b, 16a) of the column housing (13), for axially and/or radially positioning the column tube (14).
