An oil seal for reciprocation motion is provided that can achieve high performance with certainty by preventing an inner peripheral surface of a backup ring from coming into contact with a reciprocating shaft over its entire surface.
MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS
An oil seal 1 for reciprocation motion includes a seal main body 6, a resin backup ring 4, and a holding member 22. The seal main body 6 includes a seal lip 7 that can be in sliding contact with a reciprocating shaft 8. The backup ring 4 is disposed such as to support the seal lip 7 from an atmosphere side to ensure durability of the seal lip 7. In the backup ring 4, at least a single annular groove 21 is provided on an inner peripheral surface 20 opposing the reciprocating shaft 8. The annular groove 21 can hold a lubricating material. The holding member 22 holds the backup ring 4 between the holding member 22 and the seal main body 6 in a sandwiched-state.
