Abstract:
A method for controlling an idle mode in a mobile station comprises transmitting an idle mode request to a serving base station to enter the idle mode, and receiving a decode information transmission frame value and a decode information change status from at least one base station. The method also comprises, if the decode information change status indicates a change in the decode information, maintaining the idle mode, and receiving the decode information from the at least one base station when the transmission frame value is reached. The decode information may comprise at least one of downlink channel descriptor (DCD) information, uplink channel descriptor (UCD) information, and forward error correction (FEC) code type information. The transmission frame value may comprise a frame number or a frame offset. The at least one base station may be in a same paging group.
Abstract:
A method for controlling an idle mode in a mobile station comprises transmitting an idle mode request message to a serving base station to enter the idle mode. The method also comprises determining whether a skip threshold parameter has been exceeded, the skip threshold parameter associated with a number of paging intervals to pass before receiving a paging message with a mobile station identifier of the mobile station. The method also comprises transmitting a location update request to a base station if the skip threshold parameter has been exceeded, the location update request configured toupdate the location of the mobile terminal with respect to the base station.
Abstract:
A paging method in a broadcast wireless access system, and more particularly, a method of allocating a paging cycle to a mobile subscriber station in idle mode is disclosed, by which various paging cycles can be allocated to mobile subscriber stations in idle mode. In allocating a paging cycle to a mobile subscriber station in a communication system supporting an idle mode, the present invention includes the steps or receiving a request of a specific paging cycle from the mobile subscriber station, computing a substantial paging cycle to be allocated to the mobile subscriber station using the specific paging cycle requested from the mobile subscriber station and a basic paging cycle used in common in a paging group to which a serving base station of the mobile subscriber station belongs, and allocating the computed paging cycle to the mobile subscriber station.
Abstract:
A method of supporting operation of sleep mode in a wideband radio access system is disclosed. More specifically, a mobile subscriber station (MSS) which determines a frame offset information for synchronizing listening windows of at least one MSS that is in sleep mode, and transmits the determined framed offset information to at least one MSS.
Abstract:
A method of updating channel information by a mobile station (MS) that is in power saving mode is disclosed. More specifically, the method includes the MS, which receives status information of a first channel descriptor and transmission frame information which includes when the first channel descriptor is to be transmitted. Furthermore, the MS compares status information of the first channel descriptor with status information of a second channel descriptor. Here, the second channel descriptor is stored in the MS. Lastly, if the compared status information are different, the MS receives the first channel descriptor according to the transmission frame information.
