Provided are a method and an apparatus for allocating a control channel in a wireless communication system. A base station allocates an enhanced physical downlink control channel (e-PDCCH) to a localized region within a physical downlink shared channel (PDCCH) region, allocates the e-PDCCH to a distributed region within the PDSCH region, and transmits a scheduling assignment via the allocated e-PDCCH.
