In an embodiment, the level has a set of coded height bar blocks provided with a constant length along the length measuring direction of a level to digitally indicate heights. Each bar block comprises 3 bar symbols which are aligned at two different pitches. The width dimensions of the bar symbols, with the selected constant pitch values determines that any 3 adjacent bar symbols in the longitudinal direction of the levelling staff is different from any other 3 adjacent bar symbols chosen from any other portion of the barcode scale. The invention also relates to a level determination apparatus specifically adapated for that levelling bar, and to a method of using of that apparatus.

At least some of said barcode symbols are colour barcode symbols, the colour serving to encode said position indications. The barcode symbols can be organised in first and second blocks (12, 11) of barcode symbols, each providing a position indication, wherein the length (Ls) occupied along the rod (1) by a first block (12) is smaller than the length (Lb) occupied along the rod by a second block (11), the first blocks thereby providing a finer position indication than the second blocks. The first blocks (12) of barcode symbols can be formed of monochrome and colour bar code symbols, e.g. just one colour barcode symbol and at least one monochrome barcode symbol, while the second blocks (11) can be formed purely of colour barcode symbols. The invention also relates to a level determining apparatus specifically adapted for the above rod, and to a method of using that rod.

Die Laserstrahlhorizontalitätstreue-Überprüfvorrichtung (10) weist ein Teleskop (1) mit einem Abschwächungsfilter (2), einem vergrössernd wirkenden Objektiv (3) und einem flächigen Bildsensor (5) zur Aufnahme eines Bildes von einem in das Objektiv (3) einfallenden Laserstrahl (L) auf. Bestandteile der Laserstrahlhorizontalitätstreue-Überprüfvorrichtung (10) sind ausserdem ein Eigenneigungskompensator (6) und eine Auswerteeinheit (7), die ausgebildet ist zur automatischen Durchführung einer Ermittlung einer Bildposition des im Bild aufgenommenen Laserstrahls (L) anhand von Bildverarbeitung. The circuit comprises the photosensitive element, in particular as a light position detector for detecting a striking position of the light signal spot within a detection window, an amplifier with high input resistance connected to an output of the photosensitive element and a backlight suppression circuitry. The backlight suppression circuitry is connected to the output of the photosensitive element in parallel to the amplifier and comprises an electronic active resonator structure. The active resonator structure is designed in such a way to provide a load impedance to an output of the photosensitive element with a low load impedance for low frequencies for suppression of natural and artificial backlight-saturation of the photosensitive element and a high load impedance at the frequency of intensity modulation.
