    A 1 , A 2 and A3 are the same as or different from one another, and each is a hydrogen atom or the following group:

    (wherein R 7 and R 8 are the same as or different from each other, and each is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an arlyl group, an aralkyl group or a heterocyclic group ; the alkyl group, the alkoxy group, the aryl group, the aralkyl group and the heterocyclic group may have respective substituting groups provided that R 7 and R 8 are not both hydrogen atoms ; r is 0 or 1 and provided that A 1 , A 2 and A3 are not hydrogen atoms simultaneously, and that at least one of A 1 and A3 is a hydrogen atom. The invention also provides a photosensitive material comprising a conductive substrate having a photosensitive layer thereon which layer comprises a compound of the formula 1 above.
