    摘要: A document (9) is conveyed by switching the direction in which the document is conveyed to a forward direction (R1) or a reverse direction (R2) by a document conveying section (10), thereby to make a plurality of copies from the same document (9). An image forming operation with illuminating and scanning by a light source (17) is performed when the document (9) is conveyed in the forward direction (R1). A copy image is formed on rolled-paper (4) suitably cut by a cutter (37). In a case where a plurality of copies are made, when the document (9) is conveyed in the forward direction (R1) so as to make the first copy, the time elapsed from the start of the copying operation until the synchro sensor (42) senses a rear end of the document (9) is measured. The time measured is stored in a memory (56). The timing at which the rolled-paper (4) is cut in operations of making the second and subsequent copies is set on the basis of the time stored in the memory (56). This construction makes it possible to make the lengths of copy paper sheets obtained by cutting the rolled-paper (4) equal to each other when a plurality of copies are made.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus has the rotation of a fixing roller (14) controlled, said fixing roller being drivable by first and second motors (1,2), the first motor being driven at a higher speed than the second motor. The torques of the first and second motors are transmitted to a rotary shaft of the fixing roller through respective one-way clutches (7,8). The drive of the second motor is started immediately before the driving of the first motor is stopped at the end of an operation of the apparatus, and the drive of the second motor is maintained at least until the drive of the first motor is restarted. The continued low speed rotation of the fixing roller prevents it adhering to its backing or presser roller between operations.

    摘要: A heater control system has a control circuit actuated in dependence upon an operation variable, such as time or heater temperature, to regulate the action of phase control means (4,5 or 4,11) in an AC power supply to the heater. Such regulation may be related to a transition period following the closing of the power supply circuit, or to the temperature of the heater (3), in order to limit surge currents when the heater is switched on. The system may be employed in an image forming apparatus wherein an image transferred onto paper is fixed thereto by being heated with a heater, the system controlling the heater so as to limit the power supply thereto when it detects that the power being used by other elements of the apparatus would otherwise give a total power consumption in excess of a predetermined maximum.
